Implementation Network Function Virtualization (NFV) by XL Axiata said to have many advantages, one of which is the ease of increasing the capacity of the network in minutes.
This could happen because of NFV applied to the mobile packet core 3G and 4G LTE. That way, if there is an area that requires increased capacity, it can be done remotely, by diverting network capacity from other areas.
"For example, during Eid, where the data traffic in Jakarta will decline and for example in Yogyakarta increased. With NFV, network capacity in Jakarta could we switch to Yogyakarta," said Budi Harjono, VP of Network Planning & Development XL in Jakarta, Friday (4/22/2016)
Budi explained, before implementing NFV, to increase network capacity it needs to increase its network capacity directly in the area. "In the past, we have to create directly in Yogya (for example), and after Lebaran, adding it becomes useless for normal trafficnya back," he said.
There is one condition that must be met in the implementation of this NFV. Ie each region must be connected via fiber optic cable. "Bandwidth Optical fiber is enormous, so the removal of network capacity could be achieved," added Blake.
However, implementation of this NFV does not necessarily solve the problem of network congestion, which causes the user is difficult to access the Internet network. Because NFV only solve the problem of the core network, if the density of data traffic that occurs on the side of the base transceiver station (BTS), the treatment will be different.
